What laundry renovations in Newcastle and Lake Macquarie actually involves
Building Commission NSW is the plumbing regulator across New South Wales and, in Newcastle, inspects plumbing at properties served by Hunter Water; for the rest, the council has declined the delegation. Where an inspection is required the plumber books it: an internal drainage inspection, for instance, or the final inspection once all fixtures and fittings are connected. Building Commission NSW's fee for FY 2026-2027 is A$136 per inspection type, and A$1,124 for a weekend or a weekday visit before 8 am or after 4 pm. Fees are charged per inspection type, not per visit.
When the plumbing is not notified
A Notice of Work does not need to be supplied for emergency work, or minor works like replacing tapware and existing hot water systems, or bathroom renovations where the location of fixtures has not changed. A Certificate of Compliance is still given at the end.

Power for the dryer, and new points
A Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work must be submitted for any electrical work that involves installing, repairing, adding or altering equipment, no later than seven days after the electrical test. That includes a new power point for a dryer. Plumbing and electrical work are licensed at any value. The main page covers the renovation category.
Ask the plumber whether this job is notified: moving a tub changes the answer.
